Niagara Parks golf courses in great shape after a mild winter layoff
Niagara Falls, ON – With milder temperatures upon us and golfers ready to start the season, The Niagara Parks Commission is pleased to announce that its Whirlpool Golf Course and Battlefield Course at Legends on the Niagara, will officially open to the public on Friday, April 7.
Niagara Parks’ golf courses are in excellent condition, having benefited from the mild winter conditions experienced this past year. Dust off your clubs and kick off your golf season at Niagara Parks with a special opening week rate of $60.00 including cart and taxes, or $40.00 to walk at Whirlpool, which will be in effect up to and including April 13. Thereafter, spring rates at all Niagara Parks courses, including Whirlpool and the two championship courses at Legends on the Niagara, will be $65.00 weekday and $75.00 weekend, until May 13. These rates include power carts and taxes.
The practice range and Chippawa short course at Legends on the Niagara will open on Friday, April 14, followed by the Ussher’s Creek course at Legends, on April 21.
The renowned Whirlpool Golf Course and the Battlefield Course at Legends are two of the most celebrated public courses in the Niagara Region. Whirlpool, a Stanley Thompson design course opened in 1951 and has consistently ranked among the top-50 public courses in Canada. The 1,000-acre golf complex at Legends on the Niagara, opened in 2002 and features courses Ussher’s Creek and Battlefield, which were designed by two of Canada’s leading contemporary golf architects, Thomas McBroom and Douglas Carrick. In addition to its two championship courses, Legends also features the only 360-degree practice range in the country, covering 45-acres with multiple practice tees and a private tee deck for professional instruction by a team of leading PGA Teaching Professionals.
Niagara Parks offers something for golfers of every age and skill level. The popular 9-hole par-30 Chippawa course at Legends, is a great test of golf and the only joint design by McBroom and Carrick anywhere in the world. Rates on the Chippawa course, including taxes, start at $15.00 for juniors (age 19 and under) and $20 for adults. The 9-hole par 3 course on the grounds of historic Oak Hall, is scheduled to open in mid-May, offers a rate of $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for seniors (age 60 and over) and juniors.
